Freshly Dumped Reporter Goes Girl Interrupted on Revenge Mission scream the tabloids the morning after Thai journalist Joyjira Siriyakorn is dumped by her anchorman boyfriend in front of the entire Bangkok press corps and, blinded with tears, runs amok in her car. Now tabloid roadkill, the fashionista-slash-shopaholic is unemployable in her own country. Desperate to leave it all behind, Joy wins a green card lotto to start anew in America, the land of her dreams. But as soon as she arrives in Washington, D.C., she is up to her spiky stilettos in more hot water. Faced with culture shock and a dire job situation, Joy is convinced her career as a journalist in D.C. will never take off. Just as she decides to ditch her dream, she gets a job offer from a daily newspaper on Capitol Hill. Joy quickly discovers that keeping a reporting job is way more difficult than getting it. The pressure is on for her to break exclusive stories. Making this task harder, she shares a cubicle with the office backstabber who will do anything to get promoted, and falls for an insanely hot star reporter who just happens to be her competition. Over the next six months, Joy’s (mis)adventures in America – a full-fledged murder mystery, Thai expats who run afoul of immigration, the outing of her own turbulent past, and an unexpected romance – take the reader on a hilarious and heart-warming journey. Move over Bridget Jones, Joyjira has arrived!

I usually don't much care for these kinds of stories that are like Bridget Jones Diary, but I decided to buy this based on my cousin's recommendation. I was so surprised that how much I enjoyed this story!! I got hooked!! This was very well written and engaging. I kept hoping things would get better for Joy, and kept feeling horrified at each terrible mis-adventure she had. I was so happy at the end when things finally worked out. This book was just fun! It was enjoyable and delightful reading. Thanks!! I hope there will be more by this author.Product details

I received this book as gift and it was truly a delight to read. The author has a great sense of humor and I finished it within a matter of days. While this may be a familiar story of a girl finding her way in a new city and a new job, the author also captures the absurd and comical challenges that often arise when adapting to a foreign land. I highly recommend this book, especially if you're looking for a smart romantic comedy offering a fresh and unique perspective.
This is a fun and funny book. It provides nuggets of insights into the social scene and political culture of the nation's capitol that only a foreigner --- an up-and-coming journalist from Thailand --- could provide. The naïve but street-smarts Joyjira Siriyakorn leads us through a series of improbable, but somehow believable, escapades in and around the halls of power. Whether looking for a dog and finding a clue or looking for love and finding a criminal, there is always a surprise or a laugh around the next corner. This would make a very nice holiday gift for a friend who enjoys laughing at two of America's favorite punchlines --- politicans and media types. Highly recommended.
A clever read, fast moving and current. A good descriptive first novel for this new, innovative, and upcoming writer. Enjoy!
I thought the book was very well written. I bought several copies for gifts and all I gave it to loved it.
Tichakorn is my daughter-in-law and is a very lovely woman.
I hope she writes a sequel to this book.
I started reading this book while i was in subway on my way to seminar, just to kill my time. Then I hook to it. I read it whenever I had a chance during tea break, lunch break until my ipad battery was dead.
This is one of the most pleasant finds on . I really loved the story, the character development and the ending. I'm really looking forward to her next book! I would love to see this become a film as well.
